This is the problem. I use Word 98 on a G4 + System 9.1
Indeed that is your problem - read on for a more helpful response...
Not infrequently, like at least twice a week plus I will experience Word file fragmentation - there's heaps of spare disk space, so I dont understand that anyway. The symptoms are often things like page breaks occurring before they should ( i.e. some pages not full length) but otherwise in the documents there are no signs at all. I sometimes get dumb messages saying "disk full" or "cannot complete that request" when I go to close something.
I'm thinking Macro Virus at this stage...
I send them to a colleague with a PC and as soon as she opens them her machine either crashes completely or runs extremely slowly.
I'm thinking more so Macro Virus...
I run Norton and defrag the files, but what a pain in order to send an attachment with an email!
Nothing to do with Norton...
Any body know what's wrong?
Some PC hacker wrote a Macro Virus, you attracted it and now you're paying the price for the versatility of build-in Macros.
Things to do once you've removed them include checking the box in your preferences to warn you if there is a Macro in the document you're opening.
"Once you've removed", I hear you ask, get a copy of the latest virus checker and scan *all* your files.
Please bear in mind that all of your woes may have nothing to do with a virus at all, it may well be that you need to patch (eg install an upgrade to Word 98) your application so it runs on a 2001 operating system.
