The PowerBook 170 did come with an external Power Supply unfortunately you
can not purchase the power Adapter or the battery as new anymore so you are
best to take the battery to get it repacked some places can do this although
it can cost a fair bit up to $150.00

How have you been charging the battery if the PowerBook has no power input.
The only thing to do is to work out how much it will cost you to get it
running again and to see if it is worth spending the money on it. The most
you would get second hand for a PowerBook 170 now days is around $150.00 -
$200.00.
Try looking on eBay for second hand batteries for it. (www.ebay.com.au) look
in the computer section under Apple.
If you need anymore help please email me and I will help as much as I can.
