Our sysop says, "Seems to be problem in the way the mailer is
constructing the header but neither Simon or I can be sure. We don't
think it is a case of being too large or too many addresses? I checked
with helpdesk and they have not had other staff making similar
complaints so I tend to think it's a local mailer issue on the Mac"
Any suggestions?
Aside from saying 'use Eudora', you could try
Pasting the address list into something like BBEdit and turning on
'show invisibles', and looking for any abnormalities, or using zap
gremlins, and then pasting it back into Mail.
Or, try pasting half the list in and see you can send mail to that,
then the same with the second half and repeat the process until
you've reduced the list to a point of discovering the problem.
You could also use something like Interarchy's traffic monitoring,
(or any number of packet sniffing tools) to watch the SMTP session
and see what Mail is actually sending to the SMTP server, but that's
probably a bit excessive.
Thanks,
Shay
