Pretty much all desktop Macs made over the last few years use:

"1/2 AA, 3.6 volt battery"

That's the description to give to the battery shop.

A good place to go is Batteries Plus in Hutton St, Osbourne Park. Just next to 
the freeway. The battery will cost you around $12-13, and it's always worth 
keeping a spare one if you've got more than one Mac.
