You think that's bad. Try buying a 250GB drive,..you actually get 232GB available after formatting!
Actually, you should get 232GB available /for/ formatting. Your filesystem overheads will bring this down considerably more with most filesystems - I don't know about UFS or *ick* HFS+ specifically.
