4 pin FireWire ports are used on DV cameras and some laptops. They're
basically FireWire 800 ports without the two pins used to provide
power.
Oops, that should read FireWire 400.
Usually this is either because a) it would be silly for your battery
powered camera to provide power, or b) the port is physically smaller
so can be fit onto smaller devices.

Looks like a 4 pin / 6 pin cable could be used to connect a Firewire
External CD burner
or Firewire external Hard Drive
