Extract from macintouch today ( Use Combo update. not software update )

I was nervous about updating to Mac OS X 10.3.6. I have a flat-panel iMac and an external LaCie d2 (FireWire 400) 200G drive.

So I sent a letter to...... LaCie ..... technical support,...... and here is what they said:

We do hear reports of drives not working after running the update but most of the time they are not downloading the "combo" update. The other update does not update everything. Also sometimes they will have the drive connected when running the update and if it crashes it can corrupt the directory and then the drive will not show. So sure it is OK to update to 10.3.6, just make sure you do not have the drive connected when running the update and make sure you get the "Combo" update.

So I went ahead and upgraded to 10.3.6 using the Combo Updater, with the drives off-line. No problems so far. To exercise the d2, I ran DiskWarrior 3.02 against the drive and it found no errors.
