about the only light in the bus school is that some academics have or intend to purchase macs simply because of how hard admin and support staff are trying to get rid of them.... unrelated but (IMHO) showing levels of complacency towards multiplatform non MS lockdown software - central IT just released the "web based" HRM system - YEH!! sounds great for all those mac users that were having to run Citrix Winfram client eh? doesn't it? Yep SOUNDS GREAT!!! ...........catch is... as it stands it seems that it only runs on IE 6.x so they are telling mac users to install VPC and run IE 6 from winxp under VPC!!!!...... .....or move to WIntel.
This sort of thing was happening 10 years ago when I worked there (one of the reasons I left :( Although Maths getting rid of Macs is a bit of a downer, we played many happy hours of Bolo there :)
Now all I have to worry about is taking over (or being taken over by) centralised state government IT :)
