Hi Sue and others

The saga continues, but with some positive and unexpected results. I got the sony ericsson k700 to work first time, quickly and without a hitch. Isync saw the phone and I could sync the contacts and ical without any probs....except that this happened on a 12" powerbook, not my 15" powerbook that I have been using up till now to try out the phones!!! Both have 10.3.7, bluetooth and isync 1.5. The 12" works, the 15" does not, (with isync that is).

The only thing to me that looks different, is that when I initialise the pairing from the phone with the 15", the phone comes up with a screen with 3 folders, that look like those used for sharing. ie faxes, text files etc. Could this be a problem? Do I need to adjust something on the 15" ( I made the bluetooth settings the same on both computers)

thanks again for any ideas

regards

chris

Might need to set the first sync as computer overriding phone. This may mean
deleting and then reinstating the phone(device) in isync.

Inspired by the discussion I downloaded Blue Phone Elite and used it with my
Sony Ericsson T630 and was able to send SMS which I typed on my Mac.
Wonderful.
I used iSync to transfer my iCal details and while the process appeared to
happen no events came through. Any ideas?

Thanks to Rob and Rob and Rod for the links.

The whirlpool forum is really good and highlighted some points that I
had picked from doing a google search.

At least the manager of the Fone Zone store up here at Whitfords is
willing to look into my situation:

The motorola V620 does not want to isync and has a hard time being
paired, but did. I did searches of various forums and it seems Motorola
phones just dont isync at all

Have moved into the Sony Ericsson realm after seeing all the SE phones on the apple isync web site, including the K700i, which by all accounts
it the replacement of the T630 and T610, which both worked flawlessly
with isync in OSX.

I took my Powerbook (G4 1.3 10.3.7) up to the shop so I could actually
test it with the new K700i.

Paired with the PB very quickly, but in the Bluetooth setup assistant,
has the 'use isync button' greyed out.
Sure enough when I cranked up isync and clicked 'add device' it could
not locate the K700i phone, even though it was paired.

Back to square one. Even though SE phones are supposed to use 'apple
isync' this one does not.

HELP anyone

kind regards

chris

A great piece of software for answering your phone or sending SMS'S
and more!

Have been running this with my PB for past 12 months now without a
hitch, great for keeping track of appointments as it updates soon as
it comes within distance of PB.

HI everyone

I would be grateful for advice regarding the use of bluetooth phones
with the mac. Does the phone need to be isync compatible for use
with the mac. ie to transfer address book and ical info to and from
the phone and to send sms etc from the mac or can this be done in
other ways for example using other software?

I have recently bought the Motorola V620 which has bluetooth etc and
am not sure if it will do the above.

many thanks for help

Yes it does. see http://www.apple.com/isync/devices.html for a list
of compatible devices.
I am finally abandoning Entourage and going all Apple with Mail and Address book and iCal so I'm going to buy a new phone this week too.
I would love some feedback on what everyones using and what the
latest and greatest is too.
Cheers
Rob
