From what I heard, It was the the first wave of iMac G5's that had issues as Apple had part shortages and grabbed them from anywhere. This issue was rectified after these models shipped and Apple US had PSU recalls at Apple Centre's. There is a discussion about it somewhere but it was regarding models shipping in the first December I think?? Anyway the more recent ones doesn't have the issue.

I am seriously considering buying a new super drive iMac G5 17". However it is disconcerting to read so many reports of the original iMacs G5 being effected by faulty midplanes and power supplies. Does anybody know whether these defects have been rectified in the latest machines?

Thanks.
