I far as I am concerned this is just another black mark against the
department of education. Rant on/ The way they treated
the teachers is appalling and their intrusion into their private
lives beggars belief. When I was signing sick notes for them they
asked me to reveal personal details which I refused to do and also
asked to say whether I thought the illness was real or not. I forget
the actual wording but that got my thick Red pencil out to answer the
letters. Rant off /
I would think Rod's suspicions are correct :-)

Hi WAMUGers
The WA Dept of Education and Training run a Notebooks For Teachers
program
whereby for a small cost teachers can sign up for a 3 year laptop
lease.
When the program began there was no mac option.
After Union involvement, a Statewide Grievance against the employer
and a
monumental battle, finally iBooks were included.
The first iBook people's 3 yr lease expired last November.
Guess what - DET are yet to finalise a replacement Apple lease
contract
despite allegedly working on it since April last year. So these
poor old
iBook users are hanging on to 4 year old iBooks whilst their ACER
using
colleagues have brand new ACERs.
There are hints of Non Disclosure Agreements and people are unable to
explain why a new Lease has not been finalised.
The cynic in some people sees this as another conspiracy, just like
4 years
ago.
I was wondering - When are the Intel iBooks due out and do you
think this is
the possible holdup???
Probably a real longshot here as a new model would have to be
"evaluated" by
DET and so at this stage would be months and months away from being
ready to
put on the NFT Contract.
