Hi everyone
A friend is running iTunes v6 on XP. When she puts a CD in the
drive it automatically opens in Windows Media Player. WMP has been
told that iTunes id the default player and iTunes has been told it
is the default player but WMP insists on opening CDs.
Any thoughts on what has happened or what can be done to get iTUnes
to stay the default player please?
Hi Edward,
Has she recently upgraded Windows Media Player?
If you have done the following 1 & 2 & still can't get iTunes as
default try 3.
1. iTunes > edit > preferences > advanced tab > general tab
click the box to make iTunes your default player for audio files.
2. Go into WMP and turn tis similar setting OFF.
3. On your start menu is an item to set default applications (I
believe it's in the settings section). Open that and select the radio
button that allows you to set "other than Microsoft" (read: better)
applications. In that section, select iTunes as your default.
If it is already selected, deselect it, reboot, and select it again.
That can shake things loose sometimes
