I am doing a period burn to data DVD of vital stuff. I have two burners, both Apple supported, an external Firewire Pioneer DVD-RW DVR-106D and an internal Pioneer DVD-RW DVR-110D which is faster. Burning large, greater than 3GB data DVDs with Toast 6, works fine on the external burner but hangs on the internal one with a format error after more than half the burn is done. Burning from the Finder is no sweat. The disks are Imation 8x and setting the speed down to 4x or lower does not seem to make any difference on the internal burner. The external burner, which is intrinsically slower, is quite happy on the "Best" speed selection in Toast.
Has anyone any comments to offer.
