My son has seen the light and bought a MacBook. His ISP is Amnet on a 8mbs service. Almost every time he attempts to retrieve a webpage he either gets a "DNS timed out" error message which comes up as soon as he hits the "return" key, or the connection stalls just after the progress colour bar has coloured in the http://www part of the url. If he hits the refresh button, the website is immediately displayed on his screen.
He is using OS 10.4.7 (combo update), has repaired permissions, and has installed Safari Debugger. He has the problem on Safari and on Firefox. Any suggestions? Thanks, Michael Hawkins.
