Mouse has vanished

Hi All
Have lost mouse pointer.  Was using Dreamweaver and now have no mouse 
pointer.  Have tried to get into mouse and keyboard control to get 
mouse to appear, no joy.
Using OS X.3.9 on a dual G4.
Can navigate but have to hold down left mouse button to highlight where 
the mouse is.  Frustration is drawing the air out of me.... Help....  
it must be something simple.
