yep but I'd very much like to be able to use a disk mode connection for some things .

Mark, Did you watch the keynote? It seems that it can do things over wireless that other Macs can't, such as connecting to transfer accounts when setting up.

As I don't require a "desktop replacement" laptop, rather a laptop that will augment my desktop machine the new MacBook Air is quite an appealing.
