I don't know how relevant this is to your situation but here it is
for what it is worth. It certainly solved a problem for me when I
didn't have a postscript printer driver

Adding a PostScript formatting printer
To save a PostScript file, you must choose a PostScript printer in
the Print dialog.
If you don't have a real one, you can add a virtual PostScript printer.
Open Print Center, choose Add Printer from the Printers menu, and
choose IP Printing from the pop-up
menu. Type "localhost" (no quotation marks) in the Printer's Address
field, choose a printer from the Printer
Model pop-up menu, and clickAdd.
To save a PostScript file, choose the printer named "localhost" in
the Print dialog and set the Output Options
to save a PostScript file.
To give the printer a better name, deselect "Use Default Queue on
Server" and type a name in the Queue
Name field when you add the printer. Leave the address as "localhost."
Open run; Center for me
I have a client using lone Mac (iBook G3, Tiger 10.4.11) in a
Windows network. They have a Panasonic C262 Photocopier, and I'm
hoping there is someone out there with experience with printing to
this device. It comes with Mac drivers, but they are Postscript
only, and the device does not have that installed. There is a
solution involving Ghostscript and an HP PCL driver. This tried to
print (at least the printer shows some activity) but is seemingly
not getting past the security on the printer. The supplied security
utility works only with the Panasonic driver.
Has anyone else had any success with this type of scenario?
