Hey all WAMUG. :o) Just a few notes from the Apple "music" event which ran today/tonight.
* iTunes 8 available for download:- Accessibility (voice over), New Browsing, Genius Scan through albums and "Scrub" over them, like in iPhoto. Genius sidebar makes recommendations based on your music. iPod Updates - iPod Classic goes to 120GB. (80Gb and 160GB discontinued.) - iPod accounts for 73.4% of market, SanDisk 8.6%, Microsoft 2.6%, other 15.4% - New iPod nano. Thinnest iPod ever.Enhanced user interface plus an Accelerometer. Curved Aluminium and curved glass. Has a voice recording feature when it detects a microphone. "Shake" to "shuffle". Jobs says it¹s the ³cleanest² most ³toxic free² iPods they¹ve ever made. - More colours. Black, purple, blue, green, yellow, orange, red, violet - 8Gb and 16GB. US pricing $149 8GB and $199 16GB New headphones and armband accessories. One has a microphone built on the back which works with the recording feature. Redesigned iPod Touch The Touch now is thinner, with a contoured steel design. Same features - 3.5-inch display, accelerometer, 802.11b/g and the app store. New features - An integrated volume control on the side, a speaker, and Genius playlist creation. Also has Nike+ iPod built in. New games for iPod touch. Spores Origin, Real Soccer 2009, Need for Speed:Undercover. (Game overlays a D control pad and A & B buttons on bottom of screen). Games come in November for iPhone and iPod Touch. 8Gb is USD$229, 16GB is USD$299 and 32GB is USD$399. 2.1 software update free for version2 owners. Earlier version update is USD$9.95. iPhone owners get a 2.1 software update that ³fixes lots of bugs.² Significantly improved battery life, fewer call drops, crashing problems, increased speed for iTunes backups and various other fixes. Update is free and should be available this Friday.
