Hi Steven

I had problems with the trackpad on by iBook G4.
The problem sounds similar to yours, but i also had times when the cursor would jump across the screen as I tried to use the trackpad. My solution was to get the trackpad replaced under the Apple Care extended warranty.

That probably does not help your situation though.
Good luck.

Daniel F.

I have a G4 iBook which is a little long in the tooth these days. Running latest version of Leopard. The track pad has developed a problem in that sometimes the cursor moves as normal, and sometimes the cursor just stays in one spot.

Using a mouse gets round the problem, but it's not always practical to use a mouse.

Does the track pad just wear out after a while? Any suggested fixes?

Cheers, Steven
