Hi Severin,

In Finder click once to highlight your Word or Excel blank icon, then Command-j & it will bring up a dialogue box with "Show icons" "Show icon Preview" etc.

Hi Ronni
This sounds interesting but I am puzzled. Is command-j in the Finder or Word or Excel? I have tried them all and nothing seems to change.

Since upgrading to 10.5.6, Word and Excel from Office 2008, but of which are set as Startup Items with Hide checked, no longer Hide automatically but display an open blank document. Unchecking and rechecking the box makes no difference. A number of other items, set similarly, behave as they should. Has anyone else encountered this? I believe it may be related to the annoying habit that both Word and Excel have of always opening a blank document when I bring them up.

Hi Severin,

By any chance, do you have the option to "Show icon preview" checked? Try command-j and deactivate that option to get standard Office icons.

Cheers,
Ronni
