Hello Maureen,
In Safari 4 Beta, if you daughter had in gone to:
Preferences > Advanced - and checked "Show Develop Menu in Menu Bar"
Then gone to the Menu Bar and clicked on Develop > "User Agent" and
then chosen the latest version of "firefox",
that should have fixed her problem with Hotmail.
