try this
make the stills 12s long !!before you put them into the timeline!!
place them into the time line but then shorten them on both sides! by 1s, push them together & apply the fade effect..... for a proper fade you need 'blind' beginning & ends which will 'overlap' thus enable to start the fade smoothly & no black spot in the centre
if the fade is longer you need longer blind parts
a still should be show time (10s) plus 2x effect time (2s) in your case 12s
or 8s show time & 2x 1s effect time = 10s
hope that helps James

It is just an almost instant flick on off. Everything else is fine.

I am having an iMovie6 problem. In a movie I am including a sequence of stills of about 10s duration each. I am unable to cross dissolve between them without a glitch appearing at the end of he cross dissolve. There is no problem with cross dissolve between movie clips nor is it related to the lengths of the stills or the transitions, there is plenty of slack time after the transition(s) is applied. The application or not of the Ken Burns effect makes no difference. I realise that iMovie 6 is dinosaur stuff but this is most annoying.
Anyone got any old memories that may help?
