Hi Daniel, then that may mean that my hard drive is going to fall over. At the moment the restore from backup is still happening, when its finished I can then see whether the HD itself is at fault. It's a bit scary being so far from home with only one Mac. Although there is a little Apple shop in our local town centre, it looks too small to be helpful with techie support. cheers, Susan.
