I agree re turning on Airplane mode as my 3G iPhone stopped receiving any GPS signal when I tried this option.
15 minutes for acquisition is far too long compared to up to a couple of minutes for my Garmin dedicated GPS and my HP iPaq Travel Companion with built in Tom Tom. I will let you know how I go when hiking in the forest assuming I return safely!! The plan is to walk from Pemberton the 55km to Northcliffe over the weekend when it will only be a few degrees cooler there than in Perth. Eeek!
