My wife has just bought a 16g 3gs and when she is talking to someone the person has trouble hearing her. It's like she is distant; very quiet. Now I don't know if she has wet the mic accidently but I don't think so. She has also been experiencing drop outs. She is with Optus on a $79 plan. Ok, so I swapped phones with her (I have a 16g 3g) and now I am experiencing the same things.

Hi Chris,

Are you running the latest software on the iPhones? Settings > General > About - Version 3.1.3?

The mic is on the bottom right hand side (Speaker is the other grille on bottom left).
It's not being obscured by a finger, or a case at all is it!
You haven't put the call on Speakerphone?

Re the Dropouts.

1. Reseat SIM card by removing from iPhone and placing it back in and then test
2. Call carrier and ask if they are working on your area.

Cheers,
Ronni
