Hi Kevin, I think that 1 GB will be ample. I have a 1 GB Vodafone plan. I am a frequent user (this email for instance) but in over a year I have not maxed out my quota. You can also set the iPhone to connect to a wireless router at home but I have disabled wireless to get more use of my phone data plan quota and to get a longer battery life.
