Hi David. I haven't connected via DVI but, if you're interested; I took my iPad 2 to work and connected it up, via the VGA adapter, directly to our ACER projector in the training room. It worked fine. I just played around with it and my screen showed up nicely on the wall. It was actually better than any of the laptops we've used!
I had a couple of TV shows I had converted in Eye TV to iTunes and played one of them. It looked good on the wall and the sound from the iPad (no external speakers) was surprisingly good. Admittedly, I was seated next to it. The only thing with the video was that it only played on the wall and the iPad screen was blank. It does tell you it's going to do that so it's not a problem. Interestingly, we've just upgraded our computers at work and our brand new laptop (Windows - yuk!) wouldn't work on the Acer. Had to get a techie out to physically work out what's what. Turned out the Acer, which is a few years old, has limited resolutions so it wasn't picking up the laptop too well. However, the iPad is one of the resolutions it recognises so it just worked. I've been through my box of cables that I rescued from the skip at work but can't see a DVI cable. I'll have a look around at work but unless they came with our new computer rollout I don't think we have any. If I do find one, I'll try it out and report back. Don't hold your breath though.
