Hi Brett,

It's good to see that a variety of species are now using WAMUG! :-) You can
also use the word App for applications that run on the Mac. If you buy an app
in iTunes, then it is for the iPhone, iPad, or iPod Touch. There is, however,
the Mac App Store which sells apps for the Mac. This has an icon in the Dock if
you are running a recent enough version of OS X. Also, any program for the Mac
that you download from the internet or install from a CD ROM would also be an
app for the Mac.

What version of OS X are you running so I can determine if you have the Mac App
Store application? Also, what do you mean by running an app from the desktop,
do you mean that the application has an icon on the desktop that you can click
to run the application?

Cheers,
Carlo
