Subject: iphone4 dies for no reason and doesnt start up

hi

i have had my iphone4 for almost a year now (in march to be exact).

tonight i had it shut down on me (meaning the screen suddenly went blank) and
tried to hold down just the sleep/wake button for a few seconds and hold down
just the home button for a few seconds. but nothing worked and cant get the
screen to light up again.

thought it may had run out of battery, but when i plugged it into power,
nothing happened either.

phone has not been updated with iOS5 yet. but when i plug it into computer,
itunes can still read it.

when it died, it still had about 18% battery life left.

can someone shed any light on this for me please.

it happened to me once before and i did a hard reset - lost quite a few text
messages i had, as i do not plug it into the comp that often.

am trying not to do a hard reset this time.

and Ronni, take a longer break, DO NOT answer!!!!

thanks guys.

regards
