I guess AppCleaner was too worried to try to delete iMovie 09 as well. :-) You could download CleanApp. It's similar to AppCleaner but costs about $13.00. There is, however, a free trial of the fully functional app.
As with AppCleaner start the delete process. You will be presented with a list of files and have to press a delete button to actually delete them. In any case the files are moved to the trash or can be retrieved from backup. Just save an image of the list.
