Hi Daniel

Limitations of small file size and slow transfer speed are accepted, but
Bluetooth has three possible advantages.

1. Documentation says files can be "pushed" or "pulled" between computers.
AirDrop needs operations on both computers.
2. Files can come-from and go-to anywhere in the file structure of two
computers, including external drives. AirDrop can only write the file to the
Downloads folder.
3. Files are copied just once - from source to desination. (An extension of
point 2.) Less chance of data corruption that can occur when more than one
copy/paste action is taken.

There may another disadvantage - the tedious set up arrangements including
pre-setting the destination folder (may not be able to allocate the folder on
the fly). So, one day, when the garden needs work and I don't, I may look at
how Bluetooth performs in practice!

My initial question was resolved - yes, Bluetooth can be used to transfer files
between two Macs.

I will probably continue to use AirDrop for any file transfer as it is so very
convenient.

Cheers
Alan
