Hi David, Sounds like iPhoto has lost the path to where your iPhoto Library is located. You need to 'reconnect' link iPhoto to your iPhoto Library on the external disk. Make sure the external disk is connected to your Mac and has mounted on your desktop
Then Double-Click on the iPhoto icon in the Dock WHILE HOLDING DOWN the OPTION key. Keep holding down the OPTION key until you see a Window which will show you all iPhoto Libraries. When you highlight each Library it will show the path of that library. Select the iPhoto Library that is on your external disk, (the 189.97 GB iPhoto Library) Click Choose.
