Hello Ronni, I forgot to mention that this is a problem only with my Macbook Air (purchased 2011 using Mavericks 10.9.3). My iMac (purchased January 2013 using Mavericks 10.9.3 and a Kyocera FS-C2526 MFP printer) has neither of the problems.
