As much as I echo Ronni’s sentiments on this list, I do appreciate your dilemma! I have had to solve this problem for Windows-trapped customers in the past, and have been quite impressed with the free utility “Synctoy” <http://www.microsoft.com/en-au/download/details.aspx?id=15155>. My experience with Windows-based backup systems has been pretty frustrating over years, but this little tool is one I can comfortably recommend. It does a file-by-file backup that you can examine freely (rather than backup into a single large “blob” that requires the application to be able to restore from), and does scheduling as well.
