I received the replacement MBA for Tim’s previously failed MBP. It is a 2014 -
512GB/8GB/i7 MBA. It was supplied ‘clean’ with an Admin account and running
Yosemite. I reviewed Ronni’s previously provided upgrade to HS document and the
requirements in there are relevant for where an existing machine with data is
being upgraded. I connected it to the WiFi network and also plugged in
Thunderbolt to Ethernet for fast reliable download for the update. I went to
the App Store and selected the Upgrade and then Install option. After a short
while during the Install phase, the progress bar reached ~60% and screen said
“Installing, 28 minutes remaining”. That was about 3 hours ago. For the moment
I am leaving it alone to itself in case it self resolves but it appears stuck.
Some searching over the Apple support forum indicates this is not a unique
experience. Many users have had this and have had to interrupt and then boot in
Recovery mode but many not successful in progressing. Having gone through the
experience with Tim’s MBP failing, I am a little shy to do anything just now.
Has anyone had this and a known ‘fix’ for this glitch?

My experience with HS has been without fault on my MBP Retina so I am surprised
by this otherwise clean record in my experience.

Regards

Pete
