Laura all phone calls use the phone network and you’ll be charged as such. This
network is used when you access the Phone icon on your iPhone.

If you want to use the data network, ie via WiFi, then you need to use any of
the app based options such as Skype, Messenger, WhatsApp. These use what is
called a VOIP service. Voice over internet Protocol.

These apps will also work away from a wifi network and use the 3G/4G network,
if you have mobile data turned on - which you don’t.

There are two separate things - phone and data and they are charged
differently.

Tim
