Hi Alan, thanks for your reply, it got me thinking and it was the floating 
keyboard which I have now got the keyboard sitting at the bottom of screen and 
now all sorted. 

In experimenting with this I accidentally also got to understand the slide 
typing feature which I have used for years with the Swype third party app on 
iPhone.
