Kernal Panic’s are always a bit of a hard one to work through sometimes,…as they can be either software or hardware. Given you’ve said it doesn’t do it when Time Machine is turned off, then it could either be a) something in the Time Machine software or b) something with the drive being used that Time Machine is talking to. As obviously if Time Machine is turned off,…then it’s not attempting to talk to the drive.
Do you have the MyCloud Home plugged directly into the computer with USB or to your modem with Ethernet? Have you tried unplugging or removing the drive, then re-connect and see if problem persists? Also tried removing that drive from Time Machine completely then seeing if using a different drive gives the same issue? So could be a number of things, not necessarily just Time Machine software itself…could be something else “along the chain” from it talking or attempting a backup. You could also run EtreCheck to see if it turns anything up.
