Hi Walter.
If it is formatted for Mac (journaled) I don’t think Windows will recognise it.

I have a separate external drive that is formatted for DOS to use with Windows 
PCs.
You can use Apple Disk Utility to configure a drive for DOS if you wish.

Your Mac will recognise a DOS formatted drive but not vice versa.
