May 15, 2010 Senior Iranian officials' children banned from studying abroad Tehran Times Political Desk TEHRAN -- MP Karim Abedi has said that a directive has been issued that prohibits the children of senior Iranian officials from studying at universities in foreign countries. "The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has informed Iranian ambassadors abroad to take the actions necessary to prevent the children of Iranian officials from studying at foreign universities," Abedi, who is a member of the Majlis National Security and Foreign Policy Committee, stated on Friday. The Foreign Ministry has also advised senior Iranian officials not to send their children to study at foreign universities, particularly universities in Britain, he said. The Iranian Ministry of Education has been tasked with facilitating the continuation of the studies of the children of senior officials who had been studying in foreign countries, he added.
