East Timor

Hi Guys!
Massive amounts of e-mail that accumulated during my computer meltdown forced me to practically wear out my delete key in self-defense ...
Where the !*&% is "East Timor" and what did the world call it before it had it's "name change"? Why should I care about it? Sensible development of resources is the way to bring a country into the 21st century and it's citizens a better way of life (think "clean running water" and "Indoor Plumbing" for starters -- Especially the "indoor" part) ... so why should I be against it?
