I am not really sure what the new criteria will be required for a
major version bump.
Is it netcode ? Gfx ? Lobby code ? Other ?  Dunno.

I don't think the config folder is that big of a deal personally, I
have tons of them :)
If need be, the installer could offer to copy the stuff over, or tell
users to copy stuff over.

This is true as well, and since we always lack the manpower to do the
upkeep that is required, it is possible the same thing will happen
with the purposed 2.3.5.x branch.

We are going to end up with 3 testing versions, one for trunk (new
features + bug fixes), one for 2.X (new features + bug fixes), and one
for 2.3.5.x (bug fixes).

It might not always be possible to just do testing in 2.X, since the
new feature might skew the results.

The other issue is the "testing" link on the FP, if we go with the
above, then we should point it to a wiki page, where we can edit the 3
testing versions more easily.

I guess we can hold off a few more days, to get more input from the MIA devs. :)
