Various bits and pieces from the gfxqueue branch to reduce merge diff.
This patch enables c++11 for compilation. Also removes useless and always
on 'showlevelname' cheat to try to reduce the number of conditional
branches in the rendering code.

Handle displayFunction in master widget class. Remove unused default
implementations for display functions. Start tracking whether widgets
have been changed (dirty bit).
