1. In your spec_helper you can do:
RSpec.configure {|config|
config.treat_symbols_as_metadata_keys_with_true_values = true
}
Then, on your example:
it 'should perform a search', :performance do
To run it:
rspec spec --tag performance *(mind the double dash)*
If you don't want/need the configuration change (which you should do unless
you have a very good reason) you can use the 'normal' way rspec does it:

2. Just add the tag to the describe block:
describe "This awesome flow", :focus do
