Maybe its just silly but, allowing deleting the first blip can give a more
"playful" user a better knowledge on how the "mechanics" of wave works(any
reply can be deleted. ANY).
On the other hand making the first blip "undeletable" does indeed sounds more
logical.
Oh and google wave does not allow us to delete the first blip :)
