two additional points, then i'll stop spamming this bug:
1) in comment 17 i said i was seeing 60 fps anyway, but turns out I just wasn't
maximizing the window
2) the data in comment 48 shows why the timings were off. Even though gtk+ was
taking less than a frame to draw, mutter was taking 2/3's of a frame processing
the new buffer, and we only have half a frame left
