I reckon commit b528183 should fix the key repeat issue as it syncs with the
compositor before repeating the keys.
If the problem still occurs in 3.20 then it means that either the patch is
incomplete or this is something else (thinking of the similar Xwayland issue

Can you give the reproducer steps?
