It's as follows, though at present I have the synaptic driver installed and
running. (Previously, whenever I have worked on this bug, I have disabled
synaptics, which is a pain, because so doing is involved and makes my touchpad
work poorly. However, for this test, I've used my normal setup. I think. It's
all rather confusing.) (Also, I am unsure what counts as 'before any events'.)
