Barney's appliance

I have a question that's been preyin' on my mind.  In the episode where the 
gangster is in Barney's apartment and puts knock-out drops in the milk, I 
noticed a huge "something" on top of the refrigerator.  What is that???  I 
can't even imagine.  Thanks!
