I don't agree with the description of Barney in its entirety but you have to admit that there were several instances of his obnoxious behavior. I believe it is a testament to the goodness of Andy and Mayberry in general that his shortcomings were overlooked and he was cherished for his positive attributes. It would be a different world if we could all be like that but I have to admit that I would not have the patience to be Barney's BFF as Andy was. Aunt Bee of Orlando
